Since going professional in 2014, Karsten became a 7x Xterra Major Title Champion, 3x National Champion and placed 2nd overall in the 2019 Xterra Pan Am Tour. In 2018 after two failed attempts at Xterra World Championships in Maui, he had a breakthrough performance and placed 7th. Followed by two more top 10 results at Xterra World Championships and ITU Cross Worlds. In that same time, he was building the coaching company MAD Endurance. After spending 7 years training with Triathlon Canada's National team, he accepted in 2019 the role as assistant coach to Canada’s triathlon Olympic program for Tokyo Olympics. In the same year he was named to Xterra’s official certified coaches. Now Karsten coaches mainly out of Whistler BC / Sea To Sky.
After having completed 17 Ironman races, including four World Championships in Hawaii, triathlon continues to be a lifelong passion for Marla. A large part of the motivation and enjoyment for her comes from the group training and camaraderie surrounding the sport in Whistler. When not racing triathlons, Marla is keen to get involved in all things outdoor and recreation from ski touring to trail racing and from ‘Everesting’ to gravel adventures. Anytime in motion, she is in her happy place.
Laura is brand new to triathlon, and having joined our club, has trained with a brilliant fervor and attitude. She completed her first half ironman in Victoria in 2023, and with outstanding commitment she continued to train throughout the summer with her eyes on Ironman Canada. While cancelled due to bad weather, she completed the Ironman distance race in Whistler, rallying over 30 people to swim, bike and run with her in August. She is an asset to the town of Whistler!
David joined our club in 2021 and is enjoying the lake swims and mountain climbs that Whistler offers. From his first sprint race in London, UK, he has raced over 30 Olympic and 70.3s in Beijing, Shanghai, Chicago, San Francisco and Malaysia. He recently completed his first full Ironman in Penticton, fulfilling a dream ten years in the making. A proud middle of the pack finisher, David loves carrying his kids across finish lines, spreading the love of sport and hard work to the little ones.

Alex has completed 2 half Ironmans in Victoria after growing up as a competitive swimmer. A great deal of her motivation comes from the community spirit and training with other inspirational athletes in such an active town. She enjoys skiing, traveling and lifting weights in the gym where she also works as a fitness trainer.
Caroline came to Whistler in 2000 and fell in love with mountain life instantly. Born in Sydney, Australia she grew up as a swimmer and raced at the open National level. After retiring from swimming at 16 she went on to win nationals in marathon k1 kayaking and competed for Australia at World Championships. She discovered triathlon in her 20’s and raced in a full Ironman, several half Ironman, marathons, long distance swims etc. Caroline loves how sport connects and unites like minded people and wants to continue the energy exchange while living the dream in Whistler.
Marie-Anne is a fitness enthusiast who loves to train with like minded people. She has done all sorts of races ranging from cyclocross to Ironman to long distance swims to mountain biking to alpine skiing to cross country skiing. She loves to have a carrot to train for.
Our Mission and Values
One of the best aspects of triathlon training is making new friends along the way. By offering training sessions to suit everyones goals, and running social events throughout the year we make it easy for you to connect with fellow triathletes. If you're nervous about starting out, we promise you are in good hands!
Races do not happen without volunteers! When we are not out there swimming, biking and running we aim to return the favor by helping out at events. Outside of race season, our board members stay busy planning training sessions and events to ensure our members have everything they need to succeed.
Whether your goal is to make it to the World Championships, or to summon the courage to try your first open-water swim session, we are here to support you along the way. We want our athletes to have fun and build self-confidence while having access to the highest quality of training.
